Welcome to the St. James and St. John United Church website. Our church and Maple Glen United Church form the Newcastle Pastoral Charge.

Our weekly services are attended by a congregation drawn from nearly three hundred families, and our guests and friends. We also have a large and active Sunday School.

Located in Miramichi, New Brunswick, the church was built following the Great Miramichi Fire of 1825. The church and grounds were designated as a provincial historic site in 2004. Read more about our church history.

Notice Board

Please remember that the church and centre are scent free areas.

The Pastoral Care Team is running their annual MEMORIAL ANGELS project: If you would like to have an angel placed on our Christmas tree at the church, in memory of a loved one, or in honour of someone, you may do so by a donation thru the church office. For your convenience you can place your request in an envelope and drop it in the offering plate also. All requests must be made by December 16. Funds raised from this project are used to cover church expenses.

Your boxes of envelopes for 2017 are on the table by the ramp door. If you do not have envelopes and would like to have them, or if you would prefer to be on PAR, please contact the church administrator.

This year, for Christmas, the Outreach Team (with your help) is planning to sponsor the Salvation Army by filling 10 Food Hampers. These hampers/boxes are placed at the back of the church numbered. Tags are placed on the Christmas tree this morning and divided into "perishable" and "non perishable" food items. Please consider taking one or more tags and purchasing exactly what is on your tag. The "nonperishable" foods can be brought in and placed in the box that corresponds with your tag any time from now until Dec. 18, but the "perishable" food is to be brought to the Centre on Saturday, Dec. 17 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. There will be a member of the Outreach Team at the Centre to receive the food. Any questions, please contact Linda Treadwell at 622-0397. Thank you for your support.

The Sunday School children are filling sunshine bags. This is a reminder to the parents and children that they are to be dropped off and placed in the "sunshine" box that is placed at the entry to the Centre any time between now and Dec. 9. Thank you.
